SSSM Virtual Training Course

The Strategies for Success in Secondary Mathematics (SSSM) Virtual Training Course is designed for educators completing the APPEL Special Education secondary mathematics competency requirement.

This interactive course combines live virtual instruction with asynchronous learning to support the development and application of effective instructional strategies in secondary mathematics special education settings.

Participants will engage in required synchronous sessions as well as independent learning activities throughout the course.

Course Schedule

Live Virtual Sessions

  • Sept. 10 & 17; Oct. 22; Nov. 12 & 19: Virtual synchronous sessions, 4:30 PM–8:00 PM MT

  • November 14: 8:30 AM–2:00 PM MT 


Asynchronous Learning

  • September 10 to November 1 (Approximately 22 hours of self-paced coursework)

This is an interactive, participation-based course.


Participants are expected to fully engage during all scheduled synchronous sessions using a computer with stable internet access.

If you are unable to fully participate during live sessions, this may not be the appropriate time to enroll.

This course is worth 4.0 USBE Altitude credits and may be eligible for reimbursement through the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) upon successful completion.

Upon completion, participants will receive:

  • Certificate of Completion

  • Official Receipt

  • USBE Credit Documentation
