SMSET Virtual Training Course
The Secondary Math Special Education for Teachers (SMSET) Virtual Training Course is designed for educators completing the APPEL Special Education secondary mathematics competency requirement.
This interactive course combines live virtual instruction with asynchronous learning to support the development and application of effective instructional strategies in secondary mathematics special education settings.
Participants will engage in required synchronous sessions as well as independent learning activities throughout the course.

Course Schedule
Live Virtual Sessions

June 29–30: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

July 28 & 30: 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM (includes 45-minute lunch break)

August 4: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Asynchronous Learning

July 1 – August 10 (Approximately 22 hours of self-paced coursework)

This is an interactive, participation-based course.
Participants are expected to fully engage during all scheduled synchronous sessions using a computer with stable internet access.
If you are unable to fully participate during live sessions, this may not be the appropriate time to enroll.
